Aside from roaming aimlessly around the streets, the Internet is the most obvious way to find new places to eat, drink and relax. Yelp dominates the directory market in most countries but since 2011 Google have been building up a small acquisition of theirs: Zagat.

Zagat has just relaunched with an all new business model and apps to go along with it. The chic review site gained popularity in wealthy US cities such as San Francisco, New York and Washington DC. Now they’re taking things global by expanding into Europe, with London as their flagship city.

But what makes one jumped up directory site different from the rest? The new Zagat, for one, has added some cool features to embrace online communities and social networking, with quality multimedia content to boot. It’s definitely worth checking out.


The world loves food. Even if you may not be a foodie, there has to have been a time when you came across a dish and it brought you instant joy. As Voltaire put it, nothing would be more tiresome than eating and drinking if God had not made them a pleasure as well as a necessity.

And given our obsession with what we put in our mouths, it’s no surprise that there are tons of web apps that focus on helping you find good restaurants to eat at. But that just tells you where to eat at, not what to eat there. Foodspotting wants to fill that void. (more…)

This week we featured a new cooking site, Gojee, that takes a unique approach to helping you find great meals to make. You can find the foods that you can cook with the ingredients you already have. The only problem is, the pictures look so good you’ll wish you could just hit print and get your meal immediately.

We’ve gotten to do an interview with the Gojee team as well. They’re an interesting team that wants to make sure the world can eat better, easier. After the break, you’ll hear about their favorite hot drink, why they love cooking, and the tornado that attacks their workplace daily.
