There are way too many ecommerce solutions – open source and free. And there are those self-hosted solutions competing with some popular remotely hosted cloud based solutions. While there are too many of them of them to pick from, once set up anyone can make a decent living selling digital and physical goods.

One general rule of the thumb for the less tech savvy is to choose an ecommerce solution that does not require much coding to customize the store. While there is a 15 day full featured trial period for all the premium plans, you will have to submit your credit card information when signing up for them. The card will not be charged during the trial and you can cancel the account anytime before the expiration of the free trial period.

Store Manager

As the second part of the sign up manager, you will have to choose a domain name and the type of the store based on the goods you plan to sell. Once that is selected and the link emailed is activated, you will be presented with the account details page. Basic information like the account access URL, integrating Yahoo and Facebook accounts, integrating with the Facebook app etc. are displayed here.

You can limit the geographical locations to where the products can be shipped. If you are from a country that requires charging customers for VAT or sales tax, that too can be set from this tab. If you are a bit worried about letting the customers know of the Terms & Conditions associated with the sale or a disclaimer, Wazala allows you to add custom pages to display them.

Store Widget

After adding products, it’s time to integrate the cart to your webpage. Wazala will have the code ready for you along with clear cut directions as to where you should paste the code to get the shop online. You also have the option of previewing the shop with all your products before going online from here as well.

If you have pasted the code right, a small red tab named Store will show up on top of the page. This tab is a smart move from the Wazala team, as it does not clash with the existing site design or change the file structure that might cause the site to break. Clicking on the tab opens up a separate window which shows all the products along with images and pricing information.

For those us who do not have a website or blog to sell products, the Wazala URL created in the first step can be used as a full fledged online store. Now ain’t that sweet!

Final Thoughts

It’s the simplicity of deploying an online store that makes Wazala such an awesome web app. Add a simple code snippet to your blog or website, and your store will simply pop-up over your content. Thanks to Wazala, there are no more redirecting pages taking customers elsewhere to complete the purchase. Wazala becomes and functions as a part of your existing site.

Wazala’s idea to display the online shop as an overlay is a refreshing one, but might not be to the liking of a few customers. People are accustomed to see a traditional shopping cart page and this hovering window might be mistaken for a pop up. That said, Wazala is by far the simplest way to create online shops that look so cool.

Summary

Online Shop. Creating your online shop with Wazala is easy, simple and fast. Start selling online in minutes.
