Time is of the essence. At least, it is when you work for yourself. Every self employed freelancer dreads wasting it and yet there seem to be so many niggling tasks that suck it away. Arranging meetings with clients, team mates, or other freelancers can be one of these tasks that simply takes longer than it should.

And time has been on my mind of late. So yesterday I looked at how to use Setster to take the pain out of organizing appointments with clients. Today, let’s look at 5 web apps that are intended to make meeting organizing and calendar management more efficient.

There are plenty of types of services that you can offer your clients that result in the need to schedule appointments. Anyone who has had to spend a lot of time organizing these appointments knows what a headache it can be.

There are those tools that blur the lines between the desktop and the web. Many web applications have started to interact more tightly with the operating system on your computer, and there have been some recent desktop utilities that do the same but in reverse.

Earlier in the year, Google announced that they are working on their Chrome operating system. Building on their own web browser, Google Chrome, they plan to build a web-based operating system (os) that will be optimized to start quickly, be web-centric and of course, use all of Google’s own web applications.

Over the past two months since Web.AppStorm was launched, I’ve received a good number of inquiries about Air.AppStorm. There seemed to be a lot of people curious about AIR apps and AIR news. Well, for the time being, we’ve decided to tuck the coverage of everything Air related under Web.AppStorm.

For just over three fantastic years FlashDen has been the jewel in Envato’s crown. It is our longest running and most active community, and thanks to the amazing authors who showcase their work there, has become the largest marketplace for Adobe Flash files in the world with over 8,500 items for sale.

Last week Adobe asked us to change our name and URL so that it would no longer contain the term ‘Flash’, which is a registered trademark of Adobe. We know that the success of our sites is about the community and content, not the names. So here at Envato HQ we’ve been busy thinking up new names and we think we’ve found a great new home for both our marketplace and our Tuts+ blog on Flash.
