It was a only a little under 3 months ago that we called Draft “The Word Processor for the Web“. A just-launched app that I’d been testing with a few of my colleagues, Draft was one online writing app that’d captured my imagination — and got me to rethink how I write my articles.
If you’ve already tried out Draft, it needs no introduction. Otherwise, here’s a quick summary: it’s an online markdown writing app that saves version of your documents as you write, lets you open and save files on your online storage services, and has built-in collaboration tools to let others edit your work.
That in itself is a lot, enough to make quite the dent in the online writing market. But Nathan Kontny, the developer behind Draft, hasn’t stopped working, and today Draft has quite a few extra features that make it better without making it more confusing or cluttered.
It’d be hard to be a fan of web apps and not have heard of Wunderlist. The nearly ubiquitous to-do list app has gone from a fresh contender at its launch in late 2010 to one of the most well-known to-do list apps on the planet. It’s free, fun to use with customizable backgrounds, and has web, desktop, and mobile apps that all work exactly the same. In fact, we used to use it internally at AppStorm before switching to the new Basecamp. It works great, and looks nice: a rather killer combo.
And now, it’s better than ever. Wunderlist 2 already improved the service, but it’s lately gotten a ton of extra goodness, along with paid Pro accounts that add unlimited subtasks, task delegation, and of all things, extra backgrounds. The first two make it a serious contender for professional task management, while the latter keeps Wunderlist’s fun attitude front and center. (more…)
Web apps can be confusing, but with so many of them out there, there’s bound to either be one that’ll fit your needs, or a way to make your favorite ones work better. Last week, we asked for your questions about web apps, and we’ve gotten two great questions so far.
Our reader Melissa asked if we knew of a “to-do list app that offers a nice clean interface, is fast and easy to use, allows for shared tasks, and has an iPhone app that syncs.” She’s already found Flow to be nice but pricey, Wunderlist to be a lot slower in entering tasks and syncing, and Todoist to be great but has no task sharing.
Then, our reader Jussie finds YouTube to be a bit messy for managing video channel subscriptions, and wanted a nicer web app to manage video subscriptions.

Lists may not seem like the most exciting basis for a website, but everyone has the need to create some form of list from time to time. List creation and management need not be a solitary affair – there are countless scenarios in which two or more people might want to make use of the same list.
As a web developer, I have to keep track of an awful lot of things at work, not to mention my life and projects outside of work as well. I’ve tried a lot of different web apps for organisation and task management, and WorkFlowy is how I choose to organise a lot of my life, both inside and outside of work. I’m not dictating how you should use it, as the beauty of it is that it is what you want it to be, I’m merely sharing my techniques for keeping track of things, hopefully there will be a few things that you haven’t thought of doing.
