Slideshow

You’ve got thousands of photos sitting on your computer and phone, with obscure names that’ll be long forgotten. If you’re like most of us, it’s just too much trouble to turn them into something beautiful to share and enjoy. But that’s no longer the case with Evver, our sponsor this week.

Evver is, hands-down, the simplest way to turn your photos into an artistic creation. Just select your photos from your computer or smartphone, then choose a song from their great collection of music from indie artists, then go grab a drink. In less than a minute, you’ll have a choreographed video of your selected pictures and music ready to enjoy and share. It’s that simple — and it’s 100% free.

As much as I love using iPhoto to create photo slideshows of our family, I tend to like web or mobile apps that can do the same thing. It tends to be much easier to create a quick slideshow and share it with friends and family from them, without having to upload a large video. There are a handful of web and mobile apps that help you create video slideshows, ranging from the extremely full-featured to the quick and simple ones with few features to fuss with.

Evver, which is a web app that falls into the second category is one that I am going to be looking at today. They are brand new, so they are not as full featured as some of the other photo slideshow apps that are out there. But, that doesn’t mean that it can’t serve a purpose for people. Let’s take a look at it’s features and see what it can do.

Ever since the birth of my son, a little over a year ago, I have never taken so many pictures. The hard part with this is that because I mainly use my iPhone to take pictures and I post these to Facebook, Instagram, etc, I have a hard time trying to gather all of them to show my parents when they want to see them. Not only that, but my folks are not into the whole social media thing, so being that they live thousands of miles away, it is some times hard for me to continually share with them all the pictures I have.

Lately, I have had the opportunity to play around with a web app called Slide.ly, which lets you take your pictures and put it into a slideshow and then show it to your friends and family. They make it pretty easy to gather pictures from just about any where, and then let you create your own slideshow. I know there are other apps that have similar features, but I wanted to take this one for a spin to see how it compared.

Let’s be honest, powerpoint presentations just don’t cut it these days, at least in my opinion. As an educator for my full time job, I am always challenged with ways that I can engage my students in their learning. To most students, school is boring, and we need to spice it up so that they can enjoy it. Gone are the days of just throwing up a powerpoint and wowing students, customers, etc with your cool graphs or transitions. We need to move past this if we are going to captivate our audience.

Present.me does exactly just this by giving you an intuitve way to create presentations that are engaging and can create communication between you and your audience. You want to engage your audience and have them conversate around the presentation so that learning can happen in a greater way. Present.me gives you, the presenter, various ways to present your material and gives your audience the opportunity to interact with you.

We come across a boat load of images every single day. In this social age, we share images of friends, happy moments, anniversaries, karaokes, pet hamsters, etc. via email or social networking sites. However awesome or how many images there may be, the standard form of consumption is click and view. That’s too many clickety clicks everyday. Is there a fun way to share and view images?

Team Animoto says Yes. Animoto team has a very nice intro video briefing what to expect from the service. The video runs for just 60 seconds and the visuals are stunning. Let’s see if the service also lives up to the awesomeness of the intro. video.
