If your computer doesn’t have a built-in webcam app, your camera might sit there unused, even when it could have a ton of fun potential. For Mac and iOS users, this has always been pretty easy, since they can use the Photobooth app to quickly take all the fun pictures you like. Windows 8 now has a built-in camera app, but for everyone else, you’ll have to go searching for another app.

In an age when the web possesses everything we would ever need, you probably could of guessed there was some kind of alternative online. Snappic is an app which definitely fits the bill. Acting as a Photobooth in your browser, Snippic could soon become a party favourite!

It’s a Friday night. You’re with a group of people – family, friends or maybe just you and your significant other. Regardless of who you’re with, if you want to watch a movie it can be quite difficult to choose a movie that you will all enjoy. Differing tastes, opinions and perceptions all play a role in ensuring that choosing a mutually agreed upon movie is going to be a difficult task. Luckily a new service called Foundd has come onto the scene.

Foundd is a web service which allows you to rate movies that you’ve seen. It then takes the ratings and gives you a watchlist based upon those ratings. This is pretty standard practice, so Foundd’s new and unique feature is the ability to create groups with friends who have also rated movies. The app allows you to find a movie that the whole group can agree upon just by clicking a few buttons. Did you know you can rent movies on YouTube? It’s true, the video giant has been providing movie rentals for some time now. However, its library has been quite dismal, providing older and less popular titles than pretty much every other video on demand provider. That’s about to change now that they’ve finally secured all the major studios such as Warner, Universal, Sony, Lionsgate and others.

Will YouTube fare well in such a fiercely competitive market? Will you part with your hard earned cash to enjoy flicks on a platform many already use for more personal entertainment?
