Infographics: the original viral graphics, widely abused, but still loved. Infographics can be a great way of showing off data – or making yourself look extra smart without as much data – but they still take a fair bit of work to put together.
Today, I will introduce you to a new service called Infogr.am that lets you create charts and infographics in few simple steps. All you have to do is select your desired template, input the information you want to display and you are done. It’s that simple.
Infographics are everywhere these days. There are Tumblrs and blogs full of them, countless articles discussing and collecting them and we can certainly all conjure up a mental image of a memorable infographic. And of course this array of infographics is quite discursive, covering everything from timelines to business data to mixing cocktails.
If you want to hop on the infographic bandwagon, you can always try creating an infographic in any old graphic design program you might have. Unfortunately, without a lot of font and image downloads, you won’t be able to capture the characteristic look of the infographics we all know and love. That’s where Piktochart comes in, a web app which allows you to create and customize infographics for personal and professional use. I took the time to explore what it’s like to make an infographic in this dedicated program, so stick with me after the jump to find out whether Piktochart is worth your time and money.
Simply put, writing a resume is no fun. The first step to getting a job is getting noticed, and your resume is the best way to do that in a traditional job application process. Problem is, there are so many things to keep track of: font sizes, concise descriptions, word and page count, and more. Even when you get everything right, there is no way you can be sure that your resume really has the chance of standing out. You can bet at least half of the resumes mailed in by fellow job seekers are equally thorough.
You might have to think out of the box to stand out. That doesn’t mean you will have to hire a video artist to create your resume in Barney Stinson style. Instead of using boring and cliched layout and wordings, you should try something new, but that’s still within reach. How about an infographic? Kinzaa works hard to make your resume pop with a unique twist on a traditional resume. Intrigued? Keep reading to see what Kinzaa has to offer.
Hey folks! I’m Jordan McNamara, the Community Manager for Envato and I wanted to share some exciting news with you about the Envato Marketplaces.
The 12th of September was an exciting day for me as a member of our thriving Marketplace community. I along with everyone here at Envato HQ watched eagerly as the global Marketplace member count steadily grew higher and higher and higher… We were close, very close to the 1,000,000 member milestone. With every page refresh the count grew higher and I began to reflect on just how staggering having 1,000,000 members really is and on just what a fantastic community everyone has helped to build here.
