NTI’s MiST Underwhelms

I’m a huge Dropbox junkie. I’ve got 19 GB of free space that I’ve managed to secure over the years (being a student and inviting friends used to help, especially before Dropbox really exploded over the past few years). But cloud storage is tricky, and I’m the paranoid type who believes you should never rely on only one storage solution — even if it is “in the cloud.”

I was intrigued when I heard about another cloud-solution that claimed to offer a few advantages to the Dropbox setup. It’s called NTI MiST. NTI has been in the software game for a long time, and have seen tremendous success in the industry. Read on to find out whether MiST continues to improve on their sterling reputation, or if it can replace or work alongside Dropbox.

We briefly covered Min.us a few months ago when it was basically a ‘single-purpose’ app: you could upload pictures to instantly create a simple gallery that you could share with anyone. Since then, the app has been under heavy development and now has a boatload of features designed to improve the image-sharing experience and allow for other kinds of files as well.

There’s a lot of new stuff under the hood, so much so that we thought we should take another look at it. Min.us now works not just as a web app, but also as an app for desktop and mobile platforms. The galleries and editing options have been streamlined and several issues have been ironed out, making for a smoother user experience. Let’s delve deeper now, shall we?

Over the past few months I’ve realized that I don’t have a go-to site or app for sharing large files online. That’s probably because most of the popular services currently available are either slow, clunky or just forgettable. Most of them don’t allow users to keep track of what happened to their files, re-send download links or check if they were downloaded.

Where do you go when you need all these features and more? Enter UploadingIt.

UploadingIt presents a no-fuss solution to getting your files online, and makes it easy to share them. There are advanced sharing options, too, and there’s no learning curve. It includes everything you need, and nothing you don’t. Let’s take a closer look and see if UploadingIt is the file-sharing app for you.

These days we’re spoiled for choice when it comes to online file storage/sharing solutions. There’s something to suit every user’s needs, from a photographer sharing an occasional image online (CloudApp) to the design studio sending across large files to their printing facility (YouSendIt), to the startup company road warrior who needs all his files in sync wherever he goes (Dropbox). It’s great that we have so many options but it’s also overwhelming at times.

Fluxiom aims to be the choice for professionals who need to store large files of a variety of types, be able to find and organize them easily, and quickly share them. It also allows users to receive files securely and makes sure they’re all in order. Is it right for you? Let’s take a peek and find out.
