It’s Earth Day and people everywhere are taking action, no matter how small, to contribute or change the way they consume to reduce their impact on our environment. Thanks to the internet, there are fantastic ideas gushing from all over the globe to help you find one or more ways to contribute to Earth Day.
Here are a few ways to contribute using the web and a few sites with plenty of fantastic ideas.

Google - Earth Day
Earth Day
If you’re not familiar with Earth Day, a quick Google search will give you plenty of information to get you started. Earth Day, held on April 22, is…

Ways to Contribute
There are many ways to contribute around your home or in your daily routine, but here are a few ways you can use today’s great web applications to “green your routine”.
Replace Paper with Formstack
With apps like Formstack, there’s very little reason for organizations to use paper forms. Replace them with Formstack forms! Not only are they far easier but they are good for the environment, reducing everyone’s dependence on paper.
Checkout Formstack’s blog for more on this and our review, Easy Web Forms with Formstack.
Go Digital with your Diary/Journal
You might not think about it but your little diary or journal is just another tax on our environment that could easily be replaced by killer apps like Penzu. Not only that but you won’t have to worry about anyone else reading it.
Checkout our review, A Private Web: Digital Journal with Penzu.
Billing, Estimates and Reports
After working at a newspaper, an extremely paper oriented industry, it was incredibly refreshing to move on to freelancing where I could use amazing apps like FreshBooks to completely eliminate paper invoices, receipts, estimates and reports. I only wish newspapers and other businesses would do the same.
Backup and Share via Cloud
There are an amazing number of fantastic cloud backup apps these days; so many, in fact, you could easily ditch your backup hard drive and backup entirely to the cloud. Large data centers will likely be more power efficient than your external, and possibly internal, hard drives. You could also ditch those USB flash drives that seem to be everywhere.
Manage Tasks and Notes Digitally
There’s really no reason to have a desk littered with sticky notes and cups full of pens when you have apps like Remember The Milk available. Taking it a step further, keep your notes in the cloud with apps like Evernote.
Reduce Ink and Paper Usage
Using an app like PrintWhatYouLike.com you can significantly reduce the amount of ink and paper used when you do need to print something. You’ll also get rid of all that extra crap when printing websites that you don’t want printed anyway. Checkout our review, Printing Pages with Print What You Like.
What Else?
There are plenty of blogs spreading ways to reduce our impact on the environment, here are a few.

I did my part by holding all farts until the following day. Tried to convince the local cattle to do the same but I think I failed there lol.
