Top 10 Google Chrome Extensions

Although FireFox is still king of browser add-ons, Google’s Chrome is surely gaining a great selection of extensions to make it an even more powerful and versatile browser. Checkout our top 10 Google Chrome extensions after the jump.

Web Developer

For the web developers out there, this one will be an absolute must. This extension adds a selection of tools, accessible via toolbar button, web developers will find very useful. Another great option is Pendule.

FlashBlock

2. FlashBlock

Hide flash content when browsing the web and selectively load the flash content when you want. This is a great way to keep Flash from stealing system resources and save your eyes from some of those hideous advertisements.

RSS Subscription

Why Google built Chrome without RSS auto-detection, I do not know. But, with this extension you can add that capability.

4. Webpage Screenshot

Another must have, the Webpage Screenshot extension makes it easy to capture a full web page screenshot in PNG format. For web designers and developers, this will be very handy.

Xmarks

5. Xmarks Bookmarks Sync

If you use more than one computer or more than one browser, you’ll want to install the Xmarks extension. Keeping your bookmarks in sync across multiple systems and browsers has never been easier.

LastPass

If you aren’t using a password manager on the web, you likely aren’t using safe enough passwords. LastPass is a great way to manage your passwords in Chrome, also available for several other browsers.

Speed Tracer

Speed Tracer is a great extension for analyzing website and web application performance. There are a few additional requirements in order to run the plugin, but they’re easy to accomplish and well worth it for this extension.

Chromed Bird

8. Chromed Bird

Chromed Bird is essentially a Twitter client integrated into Chrome, and a great way to stay up to date on your Twitter network without running a fully dedicated Twitter client. If you spend the large majority of your time in Chrome, this extension could save you some time.

Notifier for Google Wave

9. Notifier for Google Wave

Google Wave made quite the splash when introduced but lacked many important features, namely some form of notification system. Using this extension you’ll know when you have new waves, be able to read unread waves and more.

AdBlock

10. Adblock Plus

AdBlock Plus will likely be a popular extension for many people but keep in mind, advertisements are what pay for the great content you see on many of your favorite sites. It’s certainly a great tool for blocking the intrusive and obnoxious advertisements though.

If you have a Google Account, Chrome can sync bookmarks across other computers (using Chrome).

I also have SpeedDial for my start up page- customize the look and feel of your most recently visited pages or set some favorites there I have 16 screens. I also have IE Tab for Chrome on my Windows Machine.

Google Alerter is a very useful extension. It works with Google Reader, Google Mail and Google Wave at the same time.

the have to write a better engine for their extentions just like firefox, so that better extension can be built, not only such a cheap html/JS stuff.

i would like to have a 1password extention right built into my browser or a alternative to the webkit developer toolbar just like firebug.

A great addon is Stay Focussed. Allows you to block a site for a defined period of time and concentrate on work.

The only addon that I think chrome needs desperately is stumble upon. In that deepartment, firefox’s addon beats chrome black and blue.

I made an extension wich creates a new entry in your context menu that allows you to de- and encode various types of encryption and hashes like rot13, base64, crc32, MD5 and so on. You can choose the type of the notification from Desktop Notifications, an HTML-element injected to the page, JavaScripts alert() function or console.log()
