Planning makes life easy. In fact, a lot of us plan things ahead using the best technique we know or works for us. So planning isn’t the problem. General laziness and short attention spans are some some of few reasons things that were planned in advance do not get done. But it is an undeniable fact that we move forward at least a bit more with a plan, than when we don’t have one in the first place.
There’s no dearth of apps and techniques to plan things in advance. One among them is MoreDays that plans to mesmerize with the sheer beauty of the web app. Moredays is a completely new way of planning and recording life that cross the borders of standard planning and turns paper calendar into an electronic/digital calendar. Time to take it for a spin!
The goal behind MoreDays is to create a system that will be of your interest and you will never experience boredom while planning. It is the first time management application that is based on photos and drawings. All your memories will be recorded with pure fun. Unlike its competitors, the app doesn’t require you to know GTD or any other productivity technique.
Adding information to a newly registered app that is empty can be very boring. A prominently placed Add icon makes the entire process a lot easier. Do not miss the address book styled tabs to identify the type of entry you add in the app. However, it isn’t necessary that you have to select the right tab before adding an entry. You can also comeback and handle them at a later point in time.
Adding an Entry
The funky fonts and effects add to the awesomeness of the user Interface. You can add an entry the same way we do in a lot of apps. Use the Add stamps option to assign an appropriate icon to the entry. Icons aren’t the only additions to an entry. An entry can have additional event, task, note or contacts to make it more useful.
I tried to create a calender entry with an event linked to it. If you have used a digital calender before (online or desktop), you will find the process to be exactly the same. The ability to create repeating events, alarms and attach a map are major highlights.
The user interface to create each entry (tasks, events, notes etc.) is unique and showcases the amount of effort the team has put into the app. However, things like adding the beta release note to tasks created is a bit annoying. When I was adding to dos to the app, things got a bit hairy. Whenever jumped to a different section of the app and came back to the tasks section, they either would have duplicated or deleted automatically. I notified the developers of the same and to my surprise, they fixed it within few short minutes and pinged me back. Kudos!
Putting your images to good use to record memories one of MoreDays’ best features. It’s a great way to create a visual diary of sorts, so easily and with so much relevance to the context. You don’t have to add your own images all the time and there are some stock images and cool sketches to make your entries look gorgeous. Use the built in image resizer to trim the photos you upload. I’m not sure about the storage and bandwidth limitations though.
I had some trouble with the dark background and felt it didn’t do justice to the gorgeous design of the app. Then, I accidentally discovered that I could switch backgrounds. Use the pointer near the Maps tab and get yourselves a cool background. The denim looks great!
Our lives are full of photos, drawings and memories and the developers at Moredays, have realized their significance and have put them to great use to record memories to cherish. It is fun to turn all the notes and meetings into a graphical record of our lives. MoreDays doesn’t do bookmarks, but I guess that’s probably one of the very few things it doesn’t do . It syncs nicely with Google Apps and Evernote (mentioned in the homepage, but still not showing up in the Settings page).
Nobody wants to use different application for different tasks. But in reality, it is next to impossible to keep up with everything all together. However, Moredays comes closer to being the one app that helps cover your personal and professional lives. You will never need an extra app for tasks, calendar, contacts or notes once you take the leap. It is tough to compete in the crowded landscape of productivity web apps, but MoreDays has got the goods to be a worthy alternative to market leaders.
